About
How we know
BetterPoliceChief is a fan-made companion for Police Chief: tools, event guides, calendars and pack prices in one place. This page explains where the information comes from and where it stops.
Where it comes from
Everything on this site comes from the game itself and from playing it: the events, rewards, items and shop prices the game uses, and what we record in game. We cross-check numbers against the game and correct them when they change.
Versions
The game changes events and rewards with each update. We show the live version (0.1.120) and already include what's coming next (0.1.121). Anything not live yet is marked Soon. Everyone on the same version sees the same data.
What the tags mean
- Game data
- Taken from the game's own data for the version shown.
- Seen in game
- What the game offered to players, for example a pack's contents. Can differ between servers and over time.
- Checked by us
- Recorded by us in the game. Game data wins when the two disagree.
- Calculated
- Worked out from game data, such as a date from "server day 8".
- Our reading
- Our interpretation where the game doesn't explain something. We mark it so you can weigh it.
Store prices
The game sets a price for each pack in about 40 store regions. We show the price for your region (detected from your connection, or chosen at the bottom of any page) as the game sets it. The App Store and Google Play charge the same, and so do all euro countries. Taxes, store sales and in-game promotions can change what you actually pay. We never convert currencies ourselves.
What items are worth
The game gives every item a list price in diamonds, the price its diamond shop charges, and uses it when it advertises a pack's "% value". Where the game's rules say more, the rule wins: a chest you pick from is worth its average option, a random chest its average drop at the game's drop rates, and a Universal Hero Fragment at least the hero fragment it exchanges into. Chief Emblems are cash: they pay for any pack at 100 per dollar of its price, so one is always worth exactly 1¢ in US prices (1/99 of the $0.99 price in your store). Every other item is worth its list price at the typical pack rate, the price per diamond of list price in the median pack we can price. One rate for every item keeps the game's rules intact: a chest is never worth less than what's inside. Cosmetics (skins, avatar frames, nameplates, animated emojis) get no estimate: one copy unlocks them for good and they are never sold for diamonds, so their listed price says nothing about what they cost. On an item's page you can also see what each pack charges for it. Prices are always a share of your region's real pack price, never converted. These figures are for comparing deals; the game doesn't sell single items at these prices.
Whether a pack is worth it
For a whole pack, we add up what its contents are worth and compare that with what the pack costs. ×1 means a typical deal; ×2 means twice as much for the money as the typical pack. Chief Emblem packs score exactly ×1: emblems are cash. Choose-one rewards count as the average option. Alliance Gifts go to your alliance, so they don't count. Packs that pay out daily and packs with items we can't value yet don't get a score. To suggest a better deal, we look for purchases whose value comes mostly from the same items and that give at least 15% more for the money. These are comparisons between packs. A great score doesn't mean you need the items.
What we can't know
- Whether an event is running on your server right now, and live rankings or progress.
- Random drop rates the game doesn't show.
- Packs we haven't seen in game yet. Those say "contents not recorded yet".
Privacy
No accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies or personal profiles. To show local store prices, your country is looked up from your connection once per visit and kept only in your browser. Your server day and region choice also stay in your browser. The fight estimator saves your squad, heroes and buffs in this browser; that setup is not sent to us. Copy setup and Paste setup let you transfer it yourself.
